Meet Crystal, Owner of Caring Hands Doula
I spent the first five years of my life in Indonesia, as my parents were missionaries. This gave me an invaluable world view that allows me to see things differently then most people. Giving me a love for people, places, and culture that runs deep. As a young girl I grew up around the medical field, as mom was a psychiatric nurse and my aunt a flight nurse. My twin sister and I volunteered at the hospital in Jr. High. My sister then became a nurse and I followed my mom's steps into psych as a mental health worker for about 15 years. During which time I took a 6 year break and returned to Indonesia to learn the language and culture. I met my husband there. We returned to America to marry and have our kids.

I have always enjoyed babies and as the years went by I began to notice that I was not only drawn to my babies, but others as well. I realized that I could use my love for people (Mamas and babies), my caring personality, and my hands to bless families through the birth process. It is a very vulnerable, hard, and beautiful time. I started training with Childbirth International while I was working and homeschooling. I quickly fell in love. When I had my first client and the baby was delivered, I asked myself why did I wait so long to become a doula. I feel truly blessed to be apart of helping Mamas bring these little blessings into the world.
